The short version
- Everything Motive saves stays on your phone.
- No account, no analytics, no ads and no in-app purchases.
- The app makes no network requests, so it works offline.
- Settings → Data → Erase All Data deletes everything in one go.
What the app saves, and where
Motive saves what it needs to work in the app’s own storage on your phone: an unfinished quiz (so you can resume it), your results and the last 30 of them in History, your instinct check, your 30-day path and check-ins, and your settings (light or dark, and the reminder and its time). None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and we can’t see it.
Settings → Data lets you clear your history, your check-ins, your path or an unfinished quiz, or erase all of it, including any PDF reports and cards still in the app’s cache. Uninstalling the app also removes it.
Network
Motive makes no network requests. Scoring happens on the phone and the fonts are built into the app. We scanned the 2.10.1 Android build: it contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or billing libraries. Android lists the internet permission for Motive because the framework the app is built with (Capacitor) includes it by default; Motive doesn’t use it. The link to this website in Settings opens your browser only if you tap it.
Permissions
From the Motive 2.10.1 Android manifest:

Android also adds an internal permission that protects the app’s own messages from other apps. Motive does not ask for your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos or files: reports and cards are written to the app’s own cache and handed to your phone’s share sheet.
Sharing
The PDF report and the share card are made on your phone. They go only where you send them with the share sheet, and after that the app you shared to handles them under its own policy.
Purchases
Motive will be a paid download. Google Play and the App Store handle the payment under their own privacy policies; we never see your payment details. There are no in-app purchases.
This website and the contact form
This site uses no cookies and no analytics. If you use the light/dark button, your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage. The App Store and Google Play badges are loaded from Apple’s and Google’s servers.
If you write to us through the contact form, your name, email, message and anything else you type are sent through Formspree, which forwards them to us. We use them only to reply, and keep them for up to two years.
Children
Motive is not directed at children under 13. The app collects no personal information from anyone, and we don’t knowingly receive any from children through the contact form. If you think a child has written to us, email info@ldcoda.com and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
- Your app data is on your phone, under your control: view it in the app and delete it in Settings.
- EU and UK (GDPR): the data controller for contact-form messages is LD Coda, LLC (info@ldcoda.com). We process them on the basis of your consent, and you can ask to see or delete them, or complain to your data protection authority.
- California (CCPA): you can ask what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. We do not sell personal information.
